One of the most iconic British pop groups of the 90s – East 17 – is coming to Sofia on June 11 at Vidas Art Arena. With millions of albums sold, a string of global hits and a status as one of the most recognisable names in British pop, the group will take the audience back to the golden years of dance-pop, the boyband era and unforgettable club nights from the 90s and 00s. The event will follow the AFTER WORK party concept – a musical escape from the office straight to the dance floor in the early evening hours. Special Bulgarian support will come from DJ Dian Solo and DJ Doncho, who will warm up the crowd with a thematic selection of 90s and 00s dance, house and crossover hits for an evening filled with nostalgia, energy and singalong moments under the open sky. Tickets for the event are available through Ticket Station, starting from €22.
Formed in 1991 in Walthamstow, London, East 17 quickly became one of the most successful groups of the decade. Unlike the typical “polished” image of many pop acts at the time, East 17 developed their own identity – a mix of pop, hip-hop and street attitude that set them apart from everyone else. This combination turned songs such as “House of Love”, “Let It Rain”, “It’s Alright” and “Around The World” into absolute hits across the European charts. Their biggest success came in 1994, when the emotional ballad “Stay Another Day” became Christmas No. 1 in the UK and remains one of the most recognisable pop songs of the decade. To this day, the track continues to be played on radio stations, festive playlists and concert stages around the world.
Throughout their career, East 17 have had 18 singles in the UK Top 20 and four albums in the Top 10, while according to the British Phonographic Industry, their sales exceed 1.8 million albums and 3.4 million singles in the UK alone. With their distinctive sound, energetic live performances and unmistakable 90s atmosphere, the group continues to be one of the most sought-after names at retro festivals and concert stages across Europe. Today, East 17 continue with Terry Coldwell – the only original member in the current line-up – alongside Joe Livermore and Robbie Craig, who is also known for his work with the British garage scene and Artful Dodger. The group’s current concerts combine 90s nostalgia with modern stage production and consistently turn into massive singalong experiences.
On June 11, Vidas Art Arena will become the stage for a different kind of urban party – featuring beloved hits, dancing under the open sky and an atmosphere that takes you straight back to the strongest musical years of the 90s and 00s. Doors open at 17:00, the event starts at 18:00, and the programme will finish at 21:30 – the perfect AFTER WORK format for everyone who wants to have fun after work while still keeping their rhythm for the following day. Immediately afterwards, from 22:00, the same venue will also host the official opening of the World Cup, with organisers inviting all guests to continue the festive atmosphere.
