Bulgarian audiences will welcome one of the most respected guitarists in the world – the virtuoso Marty Friedman. He returns to Bulgaria for a solo concert on April 15, 2027, on the small stage of Vidas Art Arena, where he will present his latest album Drama. Tickets for the concert are available on the Ticket Station website, with prices starting from 44 euros.
Marty Friedman has announced his long-awaited return to Europe and the United Kingdom with the Live Drama in Europe tour in 2027. Known both as one of the greatest shredders of all time and for his virtuosic classical guitar playing, he will present his latest album Drama (2024) in Bulgaria. “I crossed quite a few boundaries with this album and surpassed everything I’ve ever done on the guitar,” Friedman told Guitar World about the record.
The guitarist rose to fame as a member of the technical neoclassical metal band Cacophony, where he formed a one-of-a-kind guitar duo with Jason Becker. Their music carried all the hallmarks of the ’80s shred era – fast tempos, melodic solos and intertwining twin-guitar parts with a neoclassical flair – which established Friedman’s name on the metal scene.
After Cacophony split up, he took part in other musical projects and released a series of solo albums, including his debut Dragon’s Kiss (1988), Scenes (1992), Introduction (1994) and more. In his solo work, the musician experiments with different metal genres and moves freely from orchestral melodies to an aggressive sound.
In 2003, Marty Friedman moved to Japan, where he collaborated with local artists, worked on the soundtracks of world-famous anime series and released the studio album Tokyo Jukebox, featuring covers of popular Japanese songs.
His latest album, Drama, blends the orchestral tones his fans know so well with the heavy sound of heavy metal, telling an emotional story that takes listeners back to his ’90s album Scenes.
