Portuguese singer Ana Moura is returning to Bulgaria for a concert, invited by Fest Team, following her last performance in the country 11 years ago. Her beautiful voice will once again be heard live this autumn – on November 17 at Hall 3 of the NDK. Tickets for the event will go on presale tomorrow, June 26, for members of Fest Club, with general sales starting on June 27, at prices ranging from €60 to €90 through the Ticket Station network.

With her gentle voice and beautiful songs, Ana Moura is one of the most famous performers of fado, a traditional Portuguese music genre based on the concept of saudade – a word that encompasses feelings of loneliness, nostalgia and longing for a lost love.

Moura has 7 studio albums to her name, with her latest – “Casa Guilhermina”, released in 2022 – reaching number one on the National Sales Chart and earning a gold award. Several songs became hits on radio and streaming platforms, including “Andorinhas” and its call for freedom, “Jacarandá”, a kind of ode to Prince, “Agarra em Mim” featuring Pedro Mafama, and “Arraial Triste”.

“Casa Guilhermina” is also the album with which Ana Moura made her major comeback after a 7-year break. It presents a reborn and multifaceted side of the singer. For the first time, the artist dared to write the lyrics to her own songs. With “Andorinhas”, she even won the Portuguese “Golden Globe” for “Best Song”, while at the Play 2022 Awards she won in the categories of “Best Music Video” and “Best Female Artist”.

Her seventh album came after a period of creative burnout. After releasing 6 albums over 12 years and performing concerts around the world, the fado singer began working on a new project but realized that she had nothing to say to people. “I went to the studio and felt empty,” she admitted.

She became one of Portugal’s biggest stars with her debut album “Guarda-me A Vida Na Mão” in 2003, selling more than one million copies worldwide. Her fifth album, “Desfado” (2012), produced by Grammy Award winner Larry Klein, became the best-selling album by a Portuguese artist of the decade. Her following album, “Moura” (2015), ranked among the best-selling albums in Portuguese history. With her growing success came continuous touring, which Moura describes as a true whirlwind. “I was so busy that I simply couldn’t stop. I’ve always found it difficult to turn down work, so I went into the studio. I had songs, but they weren’t written by me – they were written by other musicians whom I adore, but I felt that they didn’t express what I wanted to say through my music,” she recalls.

The artist eventually decided to stop – she returned home to Portugal and began a period of creative rediscovery. During this time, she lost her cousin and dedicated the song “Mázia” to her. It was with this single that Moura began writing her own lyrics – something that is rare among fado performers. “In Portugal, especially in fado, we have great poets. Writing lyrics is a huge responsibility. But I wrote this song for her and wanted to share it with people,” the artist explains.

The Bulgarian audience will once again have the opportunity to hear Ana Moura’s beautiful songs live on November 17 at Hall 3 of the NDK.
