Garbage Live in Sofia on May 28 Next Year
Shirley Manson and company take the stage with a new album and iconic hits from the ’90s to today
Following their memorable first visit to Bulgaria as headliners of HILLS OF ROCK in 2019, the legendary alternative rock band Garbage returns for a standalone concert. On May 28, Vidas Art Arena will be one of the selected global stops for the tour supporting their latest album, Let All That We Imagine Be The Light – a powerful, emotional, and deeply personal record that marks a new creative chapter in the band’s long-standing history. In addition to premiering the new material, the evening will feature iconic songs from Garbage’s entire career. Tickets go on sale on Monday, December 22, at 11:00 AM via Ticket Station, starting from 40 euros.
Garbage’s eighth studio album emerged at an unexpected moment. In August 2024, the band interrupted their world tour after their untamed frontwoman Shirley Manson was forced to leave the stage due to complications from an old injury. Following surgery and a long recovery, plans were reorganized, and this unplanned pause became a powerful creative push, leading to the creation of Let All That We Imagine Be The Light.
While Shirley went through physical and emotional recovery, Butch Vig, Duke Erikson, and Steve Marker worked on new music in the studio, sending instrumentals and ideas to the singer, which she called “little sonic gifts.” From a distance and during a period of vulnerability, an album was born, filled with themes of fragility and mortality, the power of empathy, and the need for human connection in today’s world.
Musically, Let All That We Imagine Be The Light carries Garbage’s signature style – sharp alternative sound with cinematic atmosphere and memorable melodies. Post-punk energy in the bass lines, heavy guitar riffs, dramatic arrangements, and rich sonic space create a world where each song feels like a separate story – personal narratives, social observations, and universal emotions intertwined with a sense of unity and faith in human relationships. This is an album about survival, the joy of life despite everything, and the courage to move forward.
On May 28 at Vidas Art Arena, Garbage will perform not only their new album but also iconic songs from across their career, giving the audience an up-close experience with one of the most beloved alternative bands of the ’90s. Tickets for Garbage in Sofia go on sale on Monday via Ticketstation.bg, starting from 40 euros.
