HILLS OF ROCK 2025 welcomes GOJIRA!

The French metal sensation plays on July 25th on the first day of the festival in Plovdiv. A set from SEPULTURA’s farewell tour is on the program for July 26th.

Even with the last riff of HILLS OF ROCK 2024, it became clear that the festival bar has been raised high and 2025 will have to try very hard to surpass the last edition of the largest Bulgarian rock and metal music festival HILLS OF ROCK. Therefore, we are pleased to share that in 2025 we will welcome one of the most progressive, popular and anticipated contemporary bands in the world of metal. GOJIRA will play on July 25 at the Rowing Base in Plovdiv – ready to bring new energy and new standards to our country. Just one year after creating musical history at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris, the French band will take the stage at the Plovdiv festival, organized by Fest Team.

Summer 2025 is starting to take shape with the dates for HILLS OF ROCK already set – from July 25th to 27th, Plovdiv will once again become the epicenter of the rock and metal scene, where fans and artists will gather for three epic days. Tickets are on sale at ticketstation.bg and start at 140 BGN for a one-day ticket and 220 BGN for a three-day access to the festival. Three-day camping passes are also available for 99 BGN.

Heavy riffs and deep messages, progressive and environmentally conscious metal – GOJIRA’s music is much more than just notes that excite. It has the power to shake social strata. The two brothers Joe and Mario Duplantier, together with Christian Andreu and Jean-Michel Labadie, have been dedicated to combining powerful riffs with deeply emotional messages of strength and positive change in the world in their work for over 25 years. “We see humanity as a parasite, but also as the source of the most beautiful things,” says the band’s co-founder and guitarist Joe Duplantier. This duality has become GOJIRA’s trademark. In their latest studio album, the impressive “Fortitude” (2021), which is also their most successful to date, GOJIRA call for an ecological awakening in response to the crises of our time. Their songs not only impress with their technical death metal, thrash, progressive and tribal elements, but also inspire action, supporting environmental causes such as preserving the Amazon rainforest, fighting global warming and protecting the world’s oceans.

On the second festival day, July 26, Sepultura will also perform on the main stage of the Rowing Canal in Plovdiv for a concert as part of their farewell world tour “Celebrating Life Through Death”, marking 40 years on stage. After decades of ups and downs, touring over 80 countries and becoming a symbol of Brazilian metal culture, Sepultura are saying goodbye to their fans all over the world, including the Bulgarian audience. With their long history and legendary albums, they continue to inspire both old and new fans, united by the power of heavy music and the authentic Brazilian metal spirit with which the band is associated.

More exciting names are expected for the 2025 edition of the festival before the end of the year. Follow the official HILLS OF ROCK channels for the latest news and exclusive announcements. HILLS OF ROCK is organised by “Fest Team” Ltd., is part of the “Heritage 2023” program of the “Plovdiv 2019” Foundation and is implemented with the kind support of the Plovdiv Municipality.
